Questions about missed-call cost

How do I calculate the cost of missed calls?

Multiply your monthly inbound calls by the share you miss to get missed calls. Multiply missed calls by the share of answered calls that usually turn into a job to get lost jobs. Multiply lost jobs by your average job value to get lost revenue per month, and by 12 for a year.

Where do the starting numbers come from?

They are example inputs so the calculator shows a result, not industry benchmarks or averages. Replace each one with numbers from your own call log, CRM or invoices for an estimate that means something.

Does every missed call mean a lost job?

No. Some callers leave a voicemail, call back or were never going to book. The call-to-job rate you enter should reflect your answered calls, and the result is an upper-end estimate of revenue at risk, not a guarantee of what you would win back.

How do I find my missed-call rate?

Most phone carriers, VoIP systems and call-tracking tools show answered and missed calls. Divide missed calls by total inbound calls for the same period, ideally a full month that includes evenings and weekends.

How does this compare with the price of CallsHandled?

The calculator shows each plan as a share of the estimated lost revenue and how many recovered jobs at your average job value would cover it: Receptionist $297/mo, Service Desk $497/mo, or Managed Front Office $1,500/mo plus $1,500 setup on a 12-month agreement.

Is this calculator only for HVAC, plumbing and roofing?

No. The presets cover HVAC, plumbing, roofing, electrical and general home services, but the math works for any business that takes calls. Pick the closest preset and change the inputs.
